Hire a Bike/Ped Coordinator at Metro

updated 4.25.08

In 2006, then interim general manager Dan Tangherlini promised to create a bike/ped access coordinator position at the the Washington Metro Area Transit Authority (Metro) to help improve Metro’s services to cyclists and to further encourage area residents to bike to transit..  Metro's new GM John Catoe shelved the new position due to budget constraints.  But now Metro recently announced that it will be paying $1m to get the opinions of people who already pay Metro to use the system!  WABA encourages you to contact WMATA Board Chair Chris Zimmerman and Vice Chair Jim Graham to urge them to hire a position at Metro that will help improve bike and pedestrian access to metrorail and bus.
