WABA Happy Hour, MD

October 16, 2008 6pm-8pm @ BlackFinn Restaurant Saloon

Hang out with other cyclists after work, meet WABA staff and enjoy complimentary appetizers at BlackFinn Restaurant and Saloon in Bethesda, MD. WABA members get 1/2 price drinks! There will also be a chance to enter a raffle to win a $50 BlackFinn gift certificate. Not a member? Join WABA for $35 at the WABA happy hour and get a free drink!

BIKEOCTOBERFEST

October 19, 2008 10am-4pm

Biketoberfest is a one-of-a-kind event that will feature an Expo and Trade Show with over 30 vendors and manufacturers as well as advocacy groups from the cycling industry, including Trek, Gore, WABA, SRAM, CycleOps, Waterford, Shimano, Sidi and many, many more. You will have direct access to company representatives and get to lay your eyes (and hands) on the newest in components and gear. There will also be over 80 mountain, road and hybrid bikes available for demo rides and you can see the latest cycling wear for 2008 and 2009 at the fashion show.

Biketoberfest will take place in Occoquan Regional Park in Lorton, VA on Sunday, October 19th, from 10-4. There is no charge for the event or to try out any demo bikes and this event is open to the public and to all ages.

Got Lights?

October 23 and 28, 4:30-6:30pm

The days are getting shorter and WABA wants you to be safe and visible wherever you may be going by bike. Got Lights? WABA, in conjunction with the District Department of Transportation will give out free light sets and help make streets safer for nighttime riders by raising awareness of the importance of being seen when cycling especially at night.

Dc Bicycle Advisory Council Meeting

November 5 2008, 6pm-8pm

These meetings are open to the public so show up and speak your mind about bicycle rights and what kind of change you want to see in DC.

This council was established by law and appointed by the DC Council. The Bicycle Advisory Council advises the Mayor and the city government on all bicycling issues. Meetings occure on the first wednesday of odd numbered months and are held in room 1117 of One Judiciary Square (441 4th Street, NW) from 6pm to 8pm. Check with the Bicycle Program Manager to confirm date and location. More Info>>
